The Winsen MQ-4 is a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas sensor designed to detect methane ($CH_4$) and natural gas concentrations from 300 to 10,000 ppm. Utilizing a tin oxide ($SnO_2$) layer with an integrated heater, its conductivity increases with gas density, enabling fast-response leak detection with low cross-sensitivity to alcohol or smoke.
