ACS712 Hall Effect Current Sensor

Sensors & Modules

The ACS712 is a fully integrated, Hall-effect-based linear current sensor module designed for both AC and DC current sensing. Current flowing through the low-resistance internal copper path generates a proportional magnetic field, which the integrated Hall IC converts into a linear analog output voltage centered at VCC/2 (2.5V at 5V supply).

Specifications:

- Sensor Type: Hall-Effect Linear Current Sensor Module (Allegro ACS712)
- Operating Voltage: 5.0V DC (VCC)
- Current Measurement Range: Options for ±5A, ±20A, or ±30A (AC or DC)
- Measurement Principle: Indirect non-contact Hall-effect magnetic field sensing
- Signal Output: Analog Voltage (Centered at VCC/2 for 0A bidirectional reading)
- Sensitivity (by Model Variant):
- 5A Module: 185 mV/A
- 20A Module: 100 mV/A
- 30A Module: 66 mV/A
- Internal Conductor Resistance: 1.2 mΩ (Low power loss)
- Bandwidth / Response Time: 80 kHz (Filter pin adjustable)
- Voltage Isolation: 2.1 kVRMS (Galvanic isolation between load and sensing circuit)
- Operating Temperature: -40°C to +85°C
